Technique > Strength

This is something many people do not know about sports. It is not all about how strong your legs are for soccer, how strong you are for wrestling, or how strong your forearms are for tennis. Although these things help tremendously, it is not the most important thing. Sports are all about technique! If your technique is the best in the world you should be able to be victorious in every sport. For example wrestling you may be matched up with someone who is ten times stronger than you, but if you know what to do in every situation you should be able to beat that person. A person who is just strength but no technique cannot beat anyone except the people that do not know anything. I am not saying that strength is unnecessary, but I am saying that people should worry more about technique than getting stronger. I suggest working as hard as you can in practices and learning all the technique you can. Then on your free time work out occasionally. Do not prefer to work out over practicing! Never think that your technique is perfect because it never is. You always have to work on it and when you think you have it perfect look at yourself and figure out how you can make it better.

Surviving and Overachieving

There is a huge difference between surviving and overachieving! This is usually for people in sports and when you are in a sport you want to be an overachiever. A survivor is someone who does the bare minimum in the practices and just tries to survive the practice. They do not work hard therefor not helping themselves get better. I have to admit I have been a survivor in a couple of practices, but I regret it. When your a survivor you practice as if you dont even wanna be there. This is terrible because how are you gonna get better at the sport if you do not wanna be there. My reccomendation is when you are doing a sport dont be a survivor because you are hurting your team, yourself, and you are just wasting your time. An overachiever is someone who battles through practice. Someone who pushes themself to the limit to get better. Someone who ask questions on how to get better. Someone who tries their hardest even when the coach isn't looking. The overachievers are the ones that become better at the sport and the ones that learn more in a day than the survivors do in a week. The overachiever is something everyone wants to be. This is because lets say you are the best at you position but you start practicing like a survivor. Then you notice there is someone working their butts off and you are getting worse. Then eventually the overachiever may end up taking your spot.

Working Out Lower Back

Many people do not even knew that you can work out your lower back. Some don't even know you have muscles there. Lower back is very important to work out especially for sports. This is because it is part of your core which also consists of your abdomens. Having a strong core will help you get stronger, get better form, and perform well in sports. You use your core in almost every work out even though you probably don't even notice it. That is why you must get it stronger to help your form get better so that you can get stronger. When your core is strong you will do better in sports because you have more power and balance. One of the best work outs you can do for your lower back is deadlifts. This is a great lower back workout. The only problem with it is that many people may do it incorrectly and can get an injury in their back. What I recommend is to deadlift at a gym in front of a mirror to make sure your posture is correct. Watch the video to know what correct form looks like and try to get in the same position. Remember flat back, toes pointing straight forward not facing inward or outward, and look straight ahead.

Form is Everything!!!

There are many work outs that people do incorrectly because they do too much weight. Many people that I have seen at the gym will put more weight than they should be putting causing them to do bad form. For example some people who curl will get heavy weight and curl the weight but when they do they twist their body and bend their back to get the weight up. This is not only not getting you as strong as you can because you are using your back to pick up the weight rather than just your arm, but it is also leading your to back problems. People may think that since they are doing heavy weight that they are getting strong but without the right form you are just hurting yourself. What people should do is not focus on weight but focus on form. This is because once your form is good, the amount of weight you lift will increase rapidly. Form always comes first don't worry about what other people think if you are doing light weight because if you have the right form you will start catching up to them.

Gaining Weight

To gain weight you must eat a lot much more than you usually do. Also you need more that just breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You need 8-10 meals a day. This means eating less than you would on your normal meals but eating more frequently. This will help you gain weight because you are never really going to be hungry. So you will never have the problem of losing weight or staying at the same weight. Eat meals with protein this will give you mass. If you workout with this diet you will gain weight and get pretty big in muscle size. Just remember from previous blogs that when you are trying to gain weight in the gym you have to do more weight less reps. For your last meal you should try to eat right before you sleep. Eat something fattening for you last meal like a peanut-butter jelly sandwich. The one thing that you do not want to do when you are trying to gain weight is eat fast food. This may seem like a smart idea since fast food is fattening, but you are just gonna get fat and unhealthy. When I say gaining weight I mean like getting thicker not fat. Drink a lot of fluids try to stay away from sodas because they are just fattening and and not a healthy way to go if your trying to gain weight properly. Weight that you will be able to keep on.

Losing Weight

Losing weight is not easy and it takes confidence, motivation, and inspiration to do it. I'm a wrestler so I'm always struggling with weight. Sometimes I may have to lose 5 pounds in a day! this sound impossible but its really not you just can't give up when you feel tired. Your body knows when it cant handle any more but sometimes you have to push through that and go a little longer. If you want to lose weight I suggest running/jogging with a sweater and sweatpants. If its really cold I suggest more layers of cloths because you wanna get some good sweat going. Do a lot of running everyday once you feel like you cant run anymore run a little more. Every week you want to run a longer distance and for a longer time. You will begin to lose weight if you do this. Also drink a lot of water throughout the day. Water will keep you hydrated and help you run longer. It will also help you sweat water weight and this is when you will see your weight dropping. Also watch what you are eating. Try eating less or go on a diet.
